Organization profile

Climate change is caused by greenhouse gas emissions, for example, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, Among others. An important decision to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions is to change the energy matrix of countries by Reducing the use of fossil fuels to increase the use of renewable energy sources, for example, wind energy, solar energy, biomass, Among others. Biomass is an organic raw material, that is, of plant or animal origin. Bioenergy is a discipline of Engineering that studies biomass to obtain energy and raw materials. Bioenergy can be divided into two types of processes: (1) Thermochemical processes and (2) biochemical processes. Thermochemical processes are, for example, combustion, gasification, pyrolysis, Torrefaction and liquefaction. Biochemical processes are, for example, Digestion (aerobic and anaerobic) and fermentation.

UN Sustainable Development Goals

In 2015, UN member states agreed to 17 global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. Our work contributes towards the following SDG(s):

  1. SDG 7 - Affordable and Clean Energy
SDG 7 Affordable and Clean Energy
