Abstract
The present research aimed to evaluate the antidepressant and analgesic activity of the hydroalcoholic extract of the leaves of Peperomia dolabriformis in animal models. The antidepressant activity was evaluated by the forced swim test and the analgesic activity by the abdominal writhing test. In antidepressant activity, significant differences were found between all groups and the control (p< 0.05), being the treatment with Imipramine, and the hydroalcoholic extract at doses of 10 mg / Kg., The most significant. Significant differences were also found between all groups and the control in analgesic activity (p< 0.05); being the hydroalcoholic extract at a dose of 30 mg/k the one that presented the highest percentage of inhibition of abdominal contortions (88.11%) compared to indomethacin (78.78%).
