Abstract
Introduction: Fibrous dysplasia is a rare benign condition in which bone is replaced by connective tissue. Virtual planning and cutting guidance allow for more predictable results with minimal morbidity. Objective: To propose a new conservative surgical technique for the treatment of craniofacial fibrous dysplasia. Case report: Male patient with a diagnosis of zygomaticomaxillary fibrous dysplasia, presented due to increased volume in the right zygomaticomaxillary region of 6 months of evolution, asymptomatic and hard in consistency. The main reason for consultation was not being satisfied with his facial asymmetry. Bone contouring was performed by obtaining a preformed cutting guide on a stereolithographic model. Conclusions: The creation of a personalized surgical guide with depth measurements offers a solution to the difficulty of conventional bone contouring.
