Abstract

The management of matter at the nanoscale has meant the development of a diversity of methodologies that allow obtaining nanostructures with potential properties of high applicability, but in turn accompanied by polluting processes due to the use of inorganic chemical reagents. This research presents a sustainable method for the green synthesis of iron oxide nanoparticles (FeO NP) using the metabolic compounds of the aqueous extract of Eucalyptus globulus as organic reducer, which has been widely characterized. The results suggest the excellent reducing and stabilizing property of the aqueous extract of E. globulus, this is confirmed by the presence of the surface plasmon resonance (SPR) peak at 390 nm, typical of the formation of FeO NP, likewise, the characterization result structural shows the presence of the magnetite phase, in addition to having a spherical morphology with an average size of 3 nm, the elemental analysis by energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS) also shows the presence of iron, in addition to a Z potential of 13.58 mV. The magnetization analysis shows a superparamagnetic behavior that is a function of temperature, with values of 12.5 emu/g (5 K) and 8.2 emu/g (300 K).
