Abstract
In this research, a Graphical User Interface (GUI) was developed to assist in the virtual teaching of photovoltaic systems. This GUI allows friendly and sequential interaction between the user (student) and the latent knowledge, from scratch, allowing it to add information on power generation capacity and energy requirement in a given rural or urban region, also serve as educational support in electrical and/or mechanical engineering courses. Likewise, the user can analyze and evaluate different types of results together, thus choosing the best alternative solution. Therefore, this dissertation process allows the user to achieve meaningful and consolidated learning. In the GUI, the data of the energy consumed by the installation, the maximum power, the average and minimum irradiance levels available are calculated, variables related to solar geometry such as solar declination, sunrise angles, factor of eccentricity, the level of electrical performance of the installation, in addition to calculating the levels of direct, indirect and albedo solar radiation available for the solar panel, sizing the number of solar panels and the number of batteries required based on available characteristics given by the manufacturer. Finally, the results of the program were validated, comparing them with existing photovoltaic systems sizing projects, recognizing its applicability.
