Abstract
Perceived invalidation of emotion is a construct of great relevance at mental health domains. This study aimed to linguistically adapt and analyze the psychometric properties of The Perceived Invalidation of Emotion Scale (PIES), which was later translated and reviewed by 10 experts to guarantee evidence of content validity. The final sample included 403 participants (77.92% women, 22.08% men, M = 25.54 years, SD = 6.69). The original multidimensional model, as well as a bifactor model demonstrated better fit indices. Convergent and concurrent validity were determined through associations with theoretically related constructs. Test scores demonstrated adequate levels of internal consistency. Finally, evidence of invariance was found for the multidimensional and bifactor models while accounting for gender, age, academic and work status. It is concluded that PIES meets psychometric standards and can be used in Peruvian samples similar from this the study.
