Abstract

Noise pollution represents a major problem for the modern world, where exposure to noise is considerably affecting the health of the inhabitants (cardiovascular diseases and sleep disorders). Reason for which the noise outside the COMPHILL wholesale fishing market was evaluated for 10 days from 2 am to 12 pm at 4 points, which were selected with a survey applied to the residents surrounding the market. The results obtained from noise levels on the day with the lowest incidence were 56.1 dB (2 am), 55.8 dB (3 am), 56.3 dB (4 am), 56.5 dB (5 am), 66.4 dB (6 am)., 69.1 dB (7 am), 68.5 dB (8 am), 67.9 dB (9 am), 63.1 dB (10 am), 66.3 dB (11 am) and 60.2 dB (12 pm), and in the highest incidence: 55.9dB (2am), 56.1dB (3am), 56.1dB (4am), 59.3dB (5am), 68.2dB (6am), 70.4dB (7am), 69.7dB (8am), 71.1 dB (9 am), 74.5 dB (10 am), 76.5 dB (11 am) and 62.5 dB (12 pm); which did not exceed the noise ECA, which is 80 dB during the day and 70 dB at night for the industrial zone. In addition, the presence of fixed sources was identified, such as outpatient commerce, bars, and sea breakers, and mobile sources, such as motorcycle taxis, motorized cargo trucks, cars, vans, and trucks. So, the noise levels emitted by the COMPHILL wholesale fishing market do not generate noise pollution, likewise the research shows that the most effective way to mitigate noise in the markets is with the use of acoustic barriers.
