Abstract

The main purpose of this study was to evaluate the seismic behavior of a house whose walls are made of PET bottles filled with fine aggregates. An experimental research design was implemented, specifically adopting a quasi-experimental approach. For data collection, technical tests and detailed observation were used as instrumentation methods. The study population and sample included a house categorized as economic and located in a rural area of Peru. In the simulation, a gravelly clayey sand soil type was considered, and the masonry units exhibited an average weight of 1.1844 kg, with a specific gravity of 1.69 g/cm3. The maximum compressive strength of the mortar (f'c) reached 203.04 kg/cm2, while the average load-bearing strength of the masonry prisms (f'm) was 65.798 kg/cm2. Numerical aspects such as maximum interstory distortion were evaluated, registering 0.000009 m in the X-axis and 0.0000004 m in the Y-axis. The forces subjected to evaluation in Dynamic Shear were 17.362 tons in X and 16.964 tons in Y. It is crucial to highlight that the house fully complied with the regulatory requirements of the E-030 and E-070 standards, reaffirming its safety in the context of single-family buildings.
