Abstract
This article examines the relationship between sociodemographic characteristics, specifically age and gender, and media consumption and trust levels in Peru. The study has a quantitative approach, is a basic research and employs a correlational design. The sample consisted of 937 citizens from the 25 departments of Peru. The data collection technique involved a survey, and the proposed instrument was a virtual questionnaire. An instrument validated and tested in previous research was used. To test the hypotheses of the research, Spearman’s correlation coefficient was used. The study revealed a moderate positive correlation between media consumption and trust in the media. However, it was determined that neither the age nor the level of schooling of individuals had a significant relationship with media consumption or trust in the media. The study concludes that, although there is a moderate correlation between media consumption and trust in the media, age and educational level are not significant factors in the behavior of these variables.
