Abstract
Objective: This study aims to address the issue of acidic waters in a mine belonging to the mining company Green Help Perú S.R.L., through neutralization using calcium hydroxide, offering an effective solution for the mining industry. Theoretical Framework: Concepts such as mineral production, mining liabilities in Latin America, and remediation methods are presented, highlighting neutralization with calcium hydroxide. Method: A quantitative approach was employed, with an experimental design and descriptive scope, collecting samples treated with Ca(OH)2. Results and Discussion: The controlled addition of calcium hydroxide raised the pH from 2.63 to 8.49, reducing metal concentrations and mitigating pollution, contextualizing the results within the theoretical framework. Research Implications: Practical and theoretical implications are discussed, applicable to mining environmental management and public health. Findings suggest the use of calcium hydroxide to improve mining processes, neutralizing acidic waters and complying with environmental regulations. This protects ecosystems by preventing pollution and demonstrates commitment to eco-friendly practices. Originality/Value: This study demonstrates the efficacy of calcium hydroxide in neutralizing acidic water, providing sustainable solutions for mining and environmental protection.
