Abstract
The objective of the research was to evaluate the benefits of the consumption of psychobiotics for depressive symptoms. An experimental study was carried out on a sample of 44 participants, divided into an experimental group and a control group. The Zung Self-Rating Depression Scalee (SDS) was used as an instrument. The results showed a decrease in depression scores in the experimental group, with significant differences between the groups and study phases (p<0.05). In addition, a moderate effect size was found (d=0.63; Δ=0.58), resulting in the consumption of psychobiotics being moderately effective for the reduction of depressive symptoms.
