Abstract
Organizations aim to achieve their sustained goals, this leads to the analysis of the needs of workers. The research aims to explain the influence of engagement on job satisfaction from the experience of collaborators of companies in the commerce sector in Lima, Peru. The study was conducted under the positivist paradigm which supports the quantitative approach, descriptive scope, basic, non-experimental and explanatory design. The instruments used were the SL Questionnaire S20/23 to evaluate job satisfaction and the UWES-9 to evaluate engagement in a sample of 416 workers of public and private companies. The results indicate that 61.8% (257 collaborators) stated that they were satisfied with their jobs, with respect to engagement, 70% of them were at a high level overall. There are no significant differences between engagement and job satisfaction with respect to the type of company (p= 0.076; p= 0.768) and the type of contract (p= 0.143; p= 0.744); while with respect to gender, significant differences were demonstrated (p= 0.003; p= 0.027) due to the fact that the calculated values are lower than the theoretical value of 0.05. It is concluded that organizations should manage labor policies oriented to occupational health and safety, sustained in activities that allow having corporal strengths, as well as attending the particular needs of the workers, being this attention a generator of greater commitment in the workers to contribute to a better quality of life in them and at the same time to be a factor of competitive advantage and loyalty for the company.
