Abstract

A model based on a simplified single particle approximation for a battery cell is proposed. The global behavior of the cell is derived from the ion diffusion in a single representative particle by only adding a resistor in series. The objective of the model is the study and interpretation of charge transients at different rates. An adjustment method has been applied to an experimental result set in order to obtain the optimal parameters of the model with which the best agreement is achieved. It has been observed that the model is acceptable for the purpose for which it was developed, achieving a reasonable trade-off between complexity and accuracy. Once the model has been validated and its parameter values have been obtained, it can be used to evaluate and compare different fast charging algorithms.
