N2 - This research analyzes the information systems implemented at the operational level of the organizations and that have been fundamental for the reorganization of the manufacturing processes, producing significant changes in the business environment. The research is descriptive-analytical, under a non-experimental approach; information contained in secondary sources is discussed. As a result, it is evident that information systems combined with information and communication technologies are considered fundamental for reorganizing business processes, including manufacturing processes; where the automation of the facilities becomes essential to shorten times, reduce costs, streamline processes, collaborative work, promotion of innovation, and creation of competitive advantages difficult to overcome. It is concluded that the replacement of old technologies and legacy systems that are deeply rooted in many business processes, should be the strategy that directs the strategic vision of a company that assumes the challenges imposed by the new business context, with the firm purpose of exceed the expectations of the markets.
