Abstract

Gender-based violence is a problem that has been positioned on the public agenda for decades and has represented important efforts by governments and organizations in order to eradicate it. Universities, as centers of learning and knowledge, represent fundamental spaces for the discussion of this social problem, however, within these institutions gender inequalities are reflected like any other social space. The objective of this work is to characterize gender violence in Ecuadorian universities. The research corresponds to an experimental study for which a questionnaire was applied to students from two universities in Quito, Ecuador. The results showed that the students consider that there is a presence of gender equality in the academic spaces, however, the training plans and the teaching pedagogy do not always show inclusion in this matter. Therefore, it is considered important to strengthen policies on gender equality in universities and society in general.
