Abstract

Wind farms are increasing the last decade around the world, the main component is the wind turbine generator (WTG). This technology has the lowest cost in the renewable energy cluster, compared with conventional renewable energies. The wind farms are building with lineal electrical circuits associated to nacelle, blades, generators, gearbox, pitch system, converters, transformers, tower and yaw system [1]; these components generate more than 5,417 operational points per WTG during a month, therefore a early detection of a failure mode is not a easy task. This research article has a mathematical description of two special operational curves: Active power vs wind velocity and time vs yaw angle. It allows to detect problems in the blades and the nacelle control in twenty wind turbine generators, in a real wind farm with information from 2019 and 2020, associated to 2.6 millions of points point with wind velocity, active power, wind direction and yaw angle. Finally, this paper has demonstrated the detection of the blade dynamic impact and deficient yaw alignment associated to lost production, with an accuracy of 96.5%, a novelty analysis is developed with real data, information and a comparison with the traditional inspection in the WTG.
