Resumen
The present experimental work was aimed at determining the antioxidant activity, anthocyanin content and anti-inflammatory effect in vitro of the fruit Vaccinium floribundum Kunth (Pushgay), originating from the district of Querocoto, province of Chota, Cajamarca region, Peru. Antioxidant activity was evaluated using the 1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) free radical method, while anthocyanin content was determined by the differential pH method. To evaluate the anti-inflammatory activity, the erythrocyte membrane stabilization method was used. It was found that the hydroalcoholic extract of Vaccinium floribundum Kunth at the concentration of 397.7µg/ ml, equivalent to 24.66µg vitamin C/ml, reduced 50% of the DPPH concentration. As for the anthocyanin content, 419 ±9mg/100g of the fruit were found. In relation to the anti-inflammatory effect of the hydroalcoholic extract of the fruit of Vaccinium floribundum Kunth, it was observed that the percentage of erythrocyte membrane stability at concentrations of 100 and 200μg/ml corresponds to 32 ±6 and 33 ±6%, respectively, not significantly different between them and indomethacin 100μg/ml with 28 ±6%; but higher than the concentration of 50µg/ml with 20%. It is demonstrated that Vaccinium floribundum Kunth has high antioxidant power, high anthocyanin content and anti-inflammatory activity from 50 μg/ml.
