Resumen

Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic introduced significant challenges in sports, necessitating methodological adaptations to maintain sports training under the restrictions of confinement. Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of adapted training sessions, initially virtual and later in-person, on the sports performance of young athletes, with the goal of optimizing their motor skills and physical condition in the face of adversities. Methodology: A positivist paradigm with a quantitative focus and a non-experimental longitudinal design was adopted, involving 30 female basketball players aged between 13 and 17 from a school in Peru. A validated observation guide was used to assess progress in technical and physical skills across three phases: diagnosis, acquisition, and execution of skills, highlighting elements such as dribbling, and the reception and passing. Results: Improvements in the sports performance of the participants were significant throughout the study. From the confinement to the return to in-person sessions, a progressive increase in the evaluated capacities was observed, demonstrating the effectiveness of the methodological adaptation. Conclusion: The combination of virtual and in-person training proved to be an effective strategy in improving sports performance under challenging conditions. This finding underscores the adaptability and resilience of young athletes, as well as emphasizing the importance of innovation in sports training practices in complex scenarios like those generated by COVID-19.
