N2 - Management skills have been measured over the years in different studies and contexts, generally from the manager's perspective, that is, with self-assessment instruments; In this work, the instrument is adapted so that subordinates can evaluate these skills in their bosses. It is one of the most relevant concepts in recent years since it allows the generation of competitive advantages for an organization. In this study, a reliability and validity analysis was carried out through a confirmatory factor analysis of the adapted questionnaire-type instrument, generated for a context of emerging economies proposed by Carhuancho et al. (2019). 482 workers from Ecuadorian service companies were surveyed. The results showed that the original model does not meet the criteria of convergent and discriminant validity, as well as reliability, for the latent variable emotional balance. By performing a more exhaustive analysis of the items that measured this variable, it was possible to identify similarities with the Empathy construct. It is concluded that finally, the new instrument meets the criteria of reliability, convergent and divergent validity, showing a good fit with the data.
