Resumen
Objective: The research aimed to analyze the level of resilience in adolescents based on sex, age, and educational level, focusing on Peruvian adolescents from public educational institutions. Method: We worked with a quantitative approach, non-experimental, cross-sectional, descriptive-comparative design; a sample of 288 students (men=138, women=150) between 12 and 18 years old, from public educational institutions; the “JJ63 resilience test” was used, which consists of 46 items distributed in 8 dimensions. Results: the study reveals that adolescents are generally moderately affective and assertive, with moderate to adequate self-esteem and a remarkable capacity to adapt creatively. Although no significant differences were found in resilience according to sex, variations were observed in family functionality, adaptability and critical thinking. In addition, differences were found in self-esteem by grade level, suggesting that resilience varies with gender and age, although not uniformly in all areas. Conclusions. Young people generally show moderate levels of resilience in affectivity and assertiveness, as well as a remarkable ability to adapt creatively. Although no significant differences were found between sexes or age, they were found according to educational level. However, it is necessary to consider family background.
