N2 - Recently, there has been great int erest in microbial fuel cells and the different subst rates used within them for the generation of electrical energy. Due to This, the yeast Wickerhamomyces anomalus has been used as a new source of electricity generation, this subst rate was molecularly identified with a percent age of 99.82% identity. With which it was possible to generat e a maximum current and volt age on the ninth and eighth day of 2.6678 ± 0.0981 mA and 0.823 ± 0.125 V, all this an electrical conductivity of the subst rate of 49.37 ± 1.12 mS/cm on the ninth day and a pH of operation of 6.32 ± 0.421 in those days. In the same sense, a maximum power densit y of 8.176 ± 0.85 5 W/cm2 was shown for a current densit y of 362.057 mA/cm2. These values demonst rate the great potential thatt his yeast has for the generat ion of elect ric current and its new use as fuel in microbial fuel cells; being an eco-friendly alt ernative for the environment.
