Resumen
The main objective of the study was to investigate the use of video games as didactic tools in the educational setting, since these are daily in the lives of students and have an effect on their performance. Four research questions were posed, exhaustive searches were conducted and 47 articles were selected that passed the selection criteria and passed the quality criteria. The results revealed that educational video games can emulate learning environments and have positive effects in areas such as social skills, communication, critical thinking and problem solving. The most effective genres were identified as educational or serious with 72.7%. In addition, video games have the ability to enhance the educational process by providing more engaging and interactive learning experiences.
