    Resumen

This study aims to evaluate the scientific evidence of the use of artificial intelligence (ai) in journalism reported by the global academic community. This type of research is a bibliometric review; the information search was conducted within the Scopus database through a searching strategy using the title or title/abstract. Through the Prisma method, a total of 203 articles were identified that explored the use of ai in journalism between 1989 and 2022. The data reveal that the bulk production is from the last five years (2018-2022) when 78.34 % of the articles were published. Although after the review of studies on ai in journalism, it can be highlighted that its usages are still new; the importance of combating fake news must be emphasized, including the ethical elements to be considered and the teaching challenges that must be faced in the journalistic career. Therefore, this study remains an open debate, especially in the face of the explosion of ai tools in 2023.
