N2 - Introduction. Climate change represents for the world one of the most latent threats of recent times, whose consequences for humanity represent the main challenge for governments and their public policies. Objective. To know the serious problems that climate change has been causing to the planet, as well as the public policies implemented. Materials and methods. The methodology used was narrative description through the review and analysis of the information resulting from the search for information in the specialized databases of Scopus, Web of Science, Scielo and Redalyc. Results. It is shown that with current regulations it is not feasible to combat the excessive generation of greenhouse gases Conclusions. Global warming is irreversible and the main cause of deglaciation, therefore, of the gradual loss of glaciers, will generate the decrease of water, and therefore the shortage of drinking water.
